Pretty much anything goes when it comes to "as a service" these days. As a copywriter, I'm all in!

I remember the first time somebody mentioned SaaS to me about 10 years ago, and I nodded along politely while wondering what the hell “sass” was.

Today, SaaS (software as a service) has well and truly entered the global lexicon – though it may still be some time before my mum brings it up at the dinner table.

I’ve written SaaS copy for a fantastic Swedish firm called Upsales, who describe themselves as a growth engine for businesses looking to scale.

But I’ve also written SaaS copy for TITAN shipping containers. In their case, however, SaaS stands for storage as a service.

Next up was DaaS.

From SaaS to Daas copywriting

DaaS stands for devices as a service. It describes subscriptions for laptops and other workplace devices and is an alternative to buying outright.

It is the bread and butter of a wonderful business I work with named HardSoft Computers, whose tech-on-demand subs are popular across the UK.

In the olden days, we’d have called this computer leasing, but what HardSoft do is a bit like Netflix for laptops – a concept that resonates with a large portion of their target audience.

So DaaS it is.

Elsewhere in 2025, I did some work for a company named SenseCheck, who offer marketing feedback as a service.

Basically, you send your idea over to them before investing any serious money into it and get some feedback from expert.

MFaaS, then.

Are you ready for CaaS?

In have more “as a service” gigs in the pipeline. One firm I am working with right now is offering business apps as a service (BaaaS?). And I am hoping to seal the deal soon on a company that provides private jet management as a service (PJMaaS).

I’m all in. And dropping the sarcasm for a minute, it’s been great writing about these businesses and their innovative pricing strategies that enable people to access things they need without having to buy them outright.

Thus inspired, I have decided to launch my own take on this. Copywriting as a Service.

Or CaaS.

I haven’t quite sussed how it will work yet, but if you want to give me some money every month in return for some words, I’m sure we can come to some arrangement.

What makes a good SaaS copywriter?

Be it SaaS, DaaS, FMaaaS (!) or whatever new one you want to bring to the party, your copywriter needs to deliver in one key area: clarity.

It’s all about turning functions and features into benefits, and leading potential customers through the decision-making process.

When I’m doing one of my popular Website 360 packages, I’ll look at your USPs, customer profile, tone of voice and competitor activity – and then drill down into the problems your on-demand solution solves.

I’ll keep the jargon book locked up while crafting the clearest possible copy I can. What problem does your audience have? How does this solution fix it? And what does life look like afterwards?

We’ll start small and fix one key sentence together. Then things will start falling into place as easy as 1-2-3.
